Stop the Noise

Ever think about noise
The refrigerator that hums at night
Thinking
It’s communicating something important

Sleep finally embraces you
And it becomes the perfect hour
For a lawnmower
To begin trimming the grass

Comfortably at your window seat
Listening to the empty skies
While next to you
Someone talks incessantly

Cars pass each other
Acting as evolutionary species
Smiling at our ignorance
As they transport us from place to place

Have we forgotten
The sound of flowing rivers
Its language
We once understood

If we listen carefully
We might hear something
Familiar and friendly
From the universe

Have we turned our backs
From the natural rhythm
And now entertained
By the language of progress

Sounds of Daily News
Non-stop flow of information
Permeates the Mind
I surrender!

Stop the Noise
