Language to Connect

Tried to connect with someone 

Realizing it didn’t stick 

You think it was clear

Tumbled like Alice

 

Language blunders often

Appears inadequate 

And in all honesty

That shouldn’t surprise

 

Our sophistication 

Relying on expressions

To convey the complexities

Numerous methods 

 

Frustrated by people’s reactions 

To correct what I’ve said

Not fully grasping my meaning

Anxiousness equals anger

 

The language to connect

To sense make

To decipher a chaotic existence

Language seems a tool for fools

 

It reaches so far

Oh! The need for adequate art

To convey ridiculous experience

To get a clearer picture

 

Language to share ideas and feelings

Through listening and speaking

 

The ego is powerful

Trying to out due 

Trying to compete for space

Hindering harmonious conversations

 

How to remove ourselves 

So the rivers can flow

Can flow

Can flow

    So true! The ego always filters what it hears, filtering the sounds, the cadence and the implied meaning, so that what is said and what is heard seem to come from completely different universes

    I think most people don’t understand the power to say nothing. Your words are like cash, some squander it, other conserve it, perhaps there’s a time and place for both. I think most people don’t understand the choice to say very little as the ego tries to prove something.

    This is really nice! I agree that our ego gets in the way all too often. I would be nice if we can somehow learn to let it go- and let the communication flow… as you described! Great poetic perspective 💫
